Saturday night, Heather, our island astronomer, will use a 12″ Dobsonian telescope to show you the sky like you never have seen it before. She will point out several constellations and help you understand the origins of their names.
Meet Heather our astronomer for this event!
A lifetime interest in the stars had Heather complete her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Astrophysics before going on to obtain her teaching degree. In addition to teaching astronomy in high school, Heather has been the Education Coordinator for the Canadian Astronomical Society for the past eight years. She is a regular presenter at both teacher conferences and astronomy conferences, and has developed astronomy resources for Canadian teachers. She currently lives and teaches on Manitoulin Island.
